Baby blue nail polish has been signed-off as the cool-girl summer colour

Milky manis have enjoyed the spotlight. And green became the most searched-for nail colour as we headed into spring, but this summer? Baby blue nail polish has been signed off as the cool-girl nail shade you need to know.

Dua Lipa's doing it, Lizzo's into it, Hailey Bieber's flaunting it, Zendaya's loving it and Sofia Richie has hopped on board, too, making it the unofficial headliner of Summer 23.

The shade in question incorporates pretty tones of duck egg blue, pale turquoise, sky blue, cornflower blue and powder blue. So, instead of the standard brights we expect to see each summer, like coral, fluro yellow and neon pink, we've seen a shift to softer tones that feel equal parts tranquil, luxe and offbeat.

And as far as wearable trends go, we're into it: it's breezy, it's fun, it's nostalgic, it's cute and, it turns out it can look pretty sophisticated, too. It's as neutral as light wash denim (nodding to the '90s pale blue), plus it leans into the beachy mermaidcore moment that's making a splash this summer.

It's versatile, too, since we've seen the shade worn solid and shiny, glazed, bedazzled, marbled and as a French tip.

We noticed the shade was signed-off by Hailey Bieber back in April, when the model and beauty mogul teamed her Audrey Hepburn-inspired outfit with a set of Tiffany blue chrome nails while attending the jewellery brand's flagship re-opening in New York.

And, to give us the insider scoop, her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, dropped the exact details on the products she used to achieve the Tiffany Glazed mani. She called on OPI's I'm Yacht Leaving blue-green polish, with Hailey's signature glazed Tin Man Can chrome dust on top.

Sofia Richie kept things simple with a minimal white T-shirt maxi dress, pepped up with a baby blue mani.

Lizzo went extra with a jewel-bedazzled powder blue stiletto-shaped set.

Dua Lipa has tapped up the shade multiple times, pairing a pale baby blue nail polish with her blue chrome two-piece denim-look jacket and mini skirt from her collab with Versace.

Before matching a metallic mermaid blue manicure to her shimmery blue eyeshadow and blue mermaidcore skirt later this month to celebrate her single Dance The Night for the Barbie movie reaching number 1 in the UK.

Zendaya chose a baby blue shade to sit front row at the Louis Vuitton spring/summer '24 menswear show.

Megan Thee Stallion had a whole blue co-ord moment with a shimmery denim lip look, followed by a denim-wash black tipped French coffin mani.

Christina entered her Baywatch era with a blue glitter Frenchie.

Singer Sabrina Carpenter stuck to a simple baby blue nail polish.
